Sunkissed VoxBox Review: Sinful Colors SinfulShine with Gel Tech Nail Colour

Hey loves!

So some quick product reviews of the goods I received in my Influenster Sunkissed VoxBox. One of those being the Sinful Colors SinfulShine with Gel Tech Nail Colour in “Set the Mood.”

ArtsyArchitette Influenster Sunkissed VoxBox Products 2013 Review Sinful Colors Sinful Shine Set the Mood

My nails are in a horrid state… so lets overlook that. The SinfulColors SinfulShine Collection is supposed to have “oppulant rich color and superb shine” in fact 5x the shine of their regular polish and its totally does! I took the photo above BEFORE applying my topcoat.

So to say that it leaves a shiny finish is practically an understatement. It also leaves a nearly opaque finish after one coat, so two coats is perfect. It’s definitely nice not having to apply multiple coats just to get the color you bought.

The SinfulShine range goes for $2.99 a bottle, a bargain in comparison to most brands.

I received the shade “Set the Mood” that comes across as a deep teal in the bottle, but sets a tad closer to navy on your nails.

If you’re a nail junkie or need a new shiny shade for a new season, I’d definitely give the SinfulShine range a try. You can pick them up at most Walgreens or online.

The weekend is almost here and I’m super excited… for no real reason other than I have 3 days off from work – and hey, that’s reason enough right?!

Well, early last month (July) I received a box of complimentary goodies to test and review from one of my absolute favorite communities/ programs > Influenster!

I’ve held off on reviewing them for you since one of the products was a BB cream, see below, and I didn’t have the time to properly test it out when I first received it.

So check out the Sunkissed VoxBox freebies I got…

Wanderlust… BIRCHBOX: June 2013

Wanderlust lovelies…

Birchbox’s June goodies were all about products, from near and far, to inspire or aid you on summer adventures.ArtsyArchitette Birchbox June 2013 Review

1 //

First up, they included some oh so nifty and cute postcards (4), each with a different city (New York, London, Paris & Barcelona) and a suggested day trip planned out on the back featuring some of each cities well loved hot spots.

2 //

Next, was a FULL SIZE Mirenesse Glossy Kiss Natural Lip & Cheek Stain in the Shade #8 Cheeky Kiss (sorry no swatch). The product itself is lovely, smooth, creamy, non-sticky, non-drying, barely glossy – more of a soft sheen than anything.

The color just wasn’t me at all though. “Cheeky Kiss” is a dusty rose, with slight cool beige/mauve undertones and just not a color I would have chosen lip wise, though I may use it for a cheek stain. Staying power is decent, though I haven’t tested it long enough cheek wise to judge on that. Full Size Value: $26.95 USD.

3 //

Next, a 50 ml sample can of the Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk. Okay, this stuff is pretty awesome, definitely one of the best dry shampoos I have ever come across (in the top three for sure).

While I don’t use dry shampoo very often, as I most often style my hair in a natural curly state and often don’t require a dry shampoo, I do still like to keep an eye out for a great product when I see one because dry shampoo does come in handy (for texture, different styles, travel, etc).

It is light, NOT cakey, NOT chalky, its scent it airy and natural, smells expectedly like grain/rice (think Aveeno-like) and brushes through beautifully. Full Size Value: $18 USD.

4 //

Next up is a 7ml sample bottle of another Birchbox + Color Club collaboration for the Wanderlust Nail Lacquer Collection. I received the color “Reign in Spain” which I think is an awesome name and the shade definitely screams spring/summer travel to me – almost too loudly though.

Sorry for the lack of swatch on this one, my day job is hard on my hands and my manicures never survive more than a day or two. In the bottle the shade seems like a bright pink-coral, but once applied and out in the Texas sunshine – it was freaking neon coral! Too neon for a full manicure almost. However, I do like the Color Club formula, applies smoothly and opaque, without need for excessive coats. Full Size Value: $8 USD (four mini bottle collection).

5 //

I also received another Twistband Hair Tie in a fabulous green and teal anchor print! These hair ties really are gentle on your hair and the prints they come in can really add a little touch of flair to my braid.

The only down fall to these Twistband hair ties is that of the 5 I have been sent, 3 have come untied – not good. Full Dize Value (for packs): $5 to $22 USD.

6 //

Lastly, I received a standard sample vial of Oscar de la Renta’s “Something Blue” Eau de Parfum. It is a soft fragrance, but not powdery nor sweet. Citrus and floral, but slightly warm. Definitely a summer – and I don’t know if its the name that pushes my brain this way – but I keep thinking “summer wedding fragrance”. It’s a fragrance that wouldn’t be found too intrusive or abrupt, in my opinion. It could easily be an everyday fragrance. Full Size Value: $85 to $115  USD.

For those interested in the fine details:

Top notes: Italian bergamot, Mandarin, Neroli, Linden blossom
Heart notes: Stephanotis, Fleur de narcisse, Lily of the valley, Kiss of lychee
Base notes: Ambrette seeds, White musk, Ambergris, Cashmere woods, Bourbon vanilla

//

There you have it! Overall, I think Birchbox got there Wanderlust message across… postcards, dual-use product, dry shampoo perfect for travel, summer holiday nails, a hair tie that a girl can easily sport as an accessory and an easy-going summer fragrance.

More of me and my thoughts soon…

Holiday VoxBox 2012

Hi loves!

Got another Influenster VoxBox full of complimentary goodies to review for you…

ArtsyArchitette Influenster holiday voxbox 2012

The Holiday VoxBox Goods

  1. Montagne Jeunesse Face Masque in “Clean Up Mud”
  2. Goody QuikStyle Brush – Half Round Styler
  3. Quaker Real Medley’s Oatmeal + in “Apple Walnut”
  4. Sole Society $25Voucher
  5. Kiss Nail Dress
  6. NYC Liquid Lipshine in “Nude York City”
  7. EBOOST Natural Energy Supplement in “Pink Lemonade”

Montagne Jeunesse Face Masque in “Clean Up Mud”

Okay, so I have normally been a fan of MJ masques, I have been sent and bought quite a few before, but this one was awful for me!

MJ masques come in somewhat “single use” packages, but personally you can easily get 2, possibly even 3 uses out of a single package.

So immediately upon slicing open the package, I was hit with a strong Vicks-like scent, which made me wary to begin with, plus this masque is geared toward blemish-prone skin, but nonetheless I tested it out. For reference, I have fairly normal skin, with usually only seasonal dryness/oiliness and a few acne spot here and there on occasion.

This is a clay masque, with Aloe Vera & Willow, among other ingredients. Considering it is a deep cleansing mud masque, which tend to be drying, I naturally followed up with a good moisturizer, but even with that this masque sucked the life out my skin!!

Seriously, immediately after I rinsed the masque off, my skin was feeling dry – parched – taut – and just plain sad. I knew this was geared towards blemish-prone skin, but damn! I had to do some serious damage control after this one.

Final Verdict: Sorry, MJ, but unless your suffering with an oil slick and some serious blemish-ridden skin, skip this one.

Goody QuikStyle Brush – Half Round Styler

Quaker Real Medley’s Oatmeal + in “Apple Walnut”

Read my quick foodie review on this one here.

Sole Society $25 Voucher

Okay, shoes!! What girl doesn’t love shoes? Now, 80% of the time I would choose NOT to purchase shoes online – I’m always concerned with how they fit, considering I have flat feet.

Well, I was still excited, especially because this wasn’t a typical subscriber/account “club” where you are obligated to purchase or roped into a monthly type thing. Sole Society releases new shoes (usually daily from what I have gathered), they are exclusive designs, seem to be made with good materials, seem to be well made in general and are available for members only.

Unfortunately though, I didn’t get around to using my voucher. Why?

It was only good for a month, and when you’re on a budget sometimes you just can’t swing a shoe purchase. The shoes start at $49 and go up from there, plus tax and shipping, I just couldn’t afford to do it.

I’m still considering buying from them, as they do have some cute – lust-worthy designs, though they seem to change often – so who knows if the pair I love today, will be there tomorrow.

Final Verdict: Check them out if your curious, and your budget allows, otherwise pass – unless you enjoy online window shopping.

Kiss Nail Dress

Okay, I’ll be short on this one – I just did NOT care for them. They felt like heavy duty stickers (not nail polish) on my nails and honestly I just was waiting the days to get them off. You actually feel the heavy layer over your nails and to remove them – yank them off slowly.

Final Verdict: Just not my style.

NYC Liquid Lipshine in “Nude York City”

I feel like I have been sent this exact lipgloss half a dozen times, maybe I have, but either way – if you’re on a tight strictly drugstore budget, then perhaps give this one a try.

Sheer, with some shimmer. Applies non-sticky, but does go tacky. Smells like candy.

Final Verdict: Good in a pinch and if you’re on a budget, but not one I would choose over my go to MAC Cremesheens.

EBOOST Natural Energy Supplement in “Pink Lemonade”

Bleh. This one is no better than the “orange” flavored EBOOST I have been sent many time over.

Final Verdict: Pass.

Well, that sums up everything for the Holiday VoxBox 🙂
