It’s my BIRTHDAY and I’ll go to the BEACH if I want to!

Whoa… I feel like I have been M.I.A. from the blogosphere – gosh, sometimes having a job really gets in the way of blogging!

Well, guess what, I’m getting old – yeah, it’s my birthday very soon and one of my presents to myself is a mini-vacation to the BEACH!! So excited, haven’t been in a few years, plus I’m actually taking some vacation days from work! I haven’t taken any vacation days, whatsoever, since I have been working at my current job.

I’m not sure how the company will survive without me, BUT I don’t care ’cause I’ll be chillin’ at the beach!

So, since I’m obviously a make-up junkie, I thought I’d share some of the things I’ll be taking with me.

SKIN:

Neutrogena Healthy Defense Daily Moisturizer SPF 50

Neutrogena SPF 15 Lip Moisturizer

MAC FIX+ Spray

Great for giving your skin a moisture boost!

MAKE-UP:

Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 in “Bisque”

Great coverage and so light on the skin! Love it.

Neutrogena 3 in 1 concealer in “Buff 09”

Lightweight concealer + Eye cream + SPF 20 = Awesomeness!

Stays put forever!! Wear it sheer or layer it up for gold painted lids! Use it subtlety on other areas to highlight and brighten.

MAC Paint Pot in “Rubenesque”

Who doesn’t love a MAC paint pot and this one is perfect for that bronzed beach look!

Top: MAC Powerpoint Eye Pencil in “Buried Treasure”

A black-brown with gold shimmer and serious staying power. Hello waterproof!

Bottom: Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in “Junkie”

Great way to add a pop of color at the beach without going heavy on the make-up! Waterproof!

Korres Lip Butter in “Mango”

Great for keeping your lips soft and hydrated, with the perfect flush of coral color!

Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain and Balm in “Flame”

Long-lasting color, plus a balm – perfect for sunny beach days.

SUNBLOCK!!

Neutrogena Pure & Free Baby Faces SPF 50 Sunblock

Oil free, waterproof, sweatproof, fragrance free, tear free, hypoallergenic – if its good for a baby’s face its good for mine!

Neutrogena Fresh Cooling  Body Mist Sunblock SPF 45

Amazing feeling on the skin in hot weather! It’s also non-greasy and waterproof, also non-comedogenic (won’t clog your pores).

Neutrogena Ultimate Sport Sunblock Spray SPF 100

Ultra sweatproof, waterproof, non-greasy, non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores), oil free! Resists wear-off from friction, activities, sweat and water! Of course, you need to reapply throughout the day.

Foodie Moments: Healthy Dinner? + I HATE getting a new driver’s license!

So I was feeling like a “healthy” late-dinner, since today was so hectic that I didn’t get to eat anything all day – got home and wolfed down the half of a chicken friend steak I had left from last night (no sides, just the steak and water). A few hours after scarfing down the fried stuff – I needed to compensate and opted for healthy goodness – at least I think?

You know when you think what you are eating is healthy, but it turns out it is the same amount of calories as a cheeseburger? Not that I’m a calorie counter, but I try to balance my bad eating with good foods. Well, I’m having one of those kind of moments, but hey – I already ate it all up, and it felt healthy – so even if it wasn’t quite as good for me as I think it is – well I’m going to opt for tricking my brain into thinking it is.

What’s in the bowl:

5 oz. Non-Fat Greek Yogurt – Vanilla

1 whole medium-sized banana sliced

4 medium-sized strawberries sliced

About 20 green grapes

Small handful of Vanilla Almond Granola

MINI RANT:

I absolutely hate having to get a new driver’s license! Besides the waiting, which is forever boring and expected, I always end up with a semi-crappy photo. Today, I had to get my third license ever and it wasn’t an improvement, at least I don’t think so.

I think I should have just skipped the line and renewed online, keeping my 18-year-old-me photo, which was semi-decent.

First license I had, I ended up with a big ridiculous mid-laughter smile on my face – thanks mom! And they didn’t let me take the photo over. Second license, picture was okay, but I think the camera was crooked because I swear it looks like I’m about to tip over in the photo – which I definitely was not. Today’s, well the first one was totally awful, but the girl was nice enough to let me take it over. The second take was I guess an improvement, but the clerk was telling me to smile and you really don’t want to, so I ended up with a dumb half smile-smirk thing going on. Just overall, an unattractive me.

Yay, get to have that crappy one for another 6 years! Unless I opt to go subject myself to the line, and the waiting, and the undeniable feeling of needing to bathe in sanitizer – just to get another semi-crappy photo!

Does everyone suffer with bad driver’s license photos every time? Or is it just me?

Grrrrr…

Fresh NAILS: Mint Tips & Sparkle

I was feeling girly and my nails were in desperate need of  a new dress – if ya know what I mean! So I went with a sparkling base coat and mint green tips (one of my favorite colors).

Products Used:

Essie All-in-One Base Coat

Butter London Nail Lacquer in “Tart with a Heart”

Ulta Nail Lacquer in “Mint Condintion”

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti-Chip Top Coat

Quick Tip:

An easy way to create clean french-style nail tips – buy the small round/circular band-aids.

  1. Take 5 band-aids and cut them in half.
  2. Take each half and stick them to the back of your hands, the oils from your skin will reduce the tackiness in the band-aid glue.
  3. Apply the band-aid halves to each of your DRY nails and apply your nail color to the tips of your nails.
  4. Apply two coats of the tip color, if necessary, one nail at a time and remove the band-aids, before the nail polish dries.
  5. Allow the nail color to set and apply your favorite top coat.
